Affiliate Compensation Disclosure
Affiliate Compensation Disclosure is one of several new guidelines that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) brought online on December 1, 2009. This new rule will affect everyone who is an Internet marketer, blogger or website business owner in the U.S. who has affiliate links on their sites.
The Affiliate Compensation Disclosure states that if I have a “material connection” between your website and an affiliate, I must state that I am an affiliate and may “receive compensation for advertising or for reviewing the product on my blog or website.”
If my website has a link to a product or service, I may get paid a commission if you purchase the product or service.
* No publisher, manufacturer, supplier or advertiser will ever influence the content, topics or posts made on this website/blog.
In today’s internet world, I really feel it's important for you to understand the relationship between a person reviewing the product and the manufacturer, supplier or service provider. If you do not see a disclosure policy on a website or blog, that reviewer may be in violation the law or the FTC’s Code of Ethics.
